Part 1: Commitment to Transformation
The Three Universal Values
- Dignity is based on self-esteem and a sound sense of self-worth; all our actions must create spaces and circumstances for a person’s dignity to be present and unfold into their fullness, without prejudice. Following through of the love force that flows through us, identity, self worth. Go deeper.
- Equity is the quality of being fair and impartial—just and fair inclusion of people into a society in which all can participate, prosper, and reach their full potential. Fairness is based on our inner sense of equity—the quality of making decisions that are free from discrimination. Harmony is equity and fairness in action. Hózhǫ́ is a Diné word for harmony, balance, beauty, everything in its right place as it should be
- Compassion is our love-in-action. When our universal heart breaks open, we are called to respond to suffering in others and act to alleviate it. Karuna, a Sanskrit word, describes this compassion. Without compassion, our endeavors to manifest dignity and equity are likely to become a polarized space, a fight.
Transcending polarization through compassion along with universal dignity and equity will generate enduring transformational results, where the actions that diminish and exploit people and our planet have no place.
